3 Signs You Might Need to Take a Sex Break
Sex is one of the greatest gifts humans have been given. Besides it being necessary for the creation of life (in most cases), it also gives you the opportunity to experience immense pleasure, connect with yourself and your partner(s), and get more enjoyment out of life!
That being said, there’s a time and a season for everything. Including sex.
Sex is so engrained in our lives that it can be difficult to take a step back and realize that you need a break. Taking a break can sometimes be essential to having a happy sex life.
Here are some signs you may need to take a break from sex:
1. Your Energy Feels Scattered
Do you feel a bit all over the place? Or like you lack a sense of consolidation and clarity? These could be signs of your energy being scattered.
Sometimes sex can help you become more grounded, and other times it can discombobulate you. This can especially happen if you’re not feeling empowered with the people you’re having sex with or the ways you’re having sex.
You may need to take a step back taking a step back from sex for a little bit for your energy to feel more consolidated.
2. You Don’t Feel Present During Sex
Is your mind racing while you’re having sex? Or do you feel disconnected from your body and sense of pleasure? It may help to take a step back from sex.
This little break can be used to help you become more grounded, as well as increase communication and intimacy with your partner in other ways.
3. You Need to Focus on Other Things
Your priorities shift at different points in your lives. Job changes, moves, births, deaths, and more can all affect your sex life. While sex can be a great way to help destress during these times, it may also distract you from focusing on what’s in front of you.
If you feel like you need to invest more of your energy into other areas of your life, then you may want to take a breather when it comes to sex.
Check-in With Yourself
Just because you’re taking a break from sex doesn’t mean you can’t do other things for yourself. This is the perfect time to check in with yourself and your body.
Your break may or may not include self-pleasure. If you just need a break from having sex with other people, then this could be the perfect time to reconnect with your body and pleasure practice.
No matter what your sex break entails, you can take this time to practice body worship rituals like self-massage and breathwork. Your break may be a week, a month, or more – you do what you need to do.
Life has its ebbs and flows, you can help yourself move through them by honoring what you need at different times.
