4 Superfoods to Boost Your Sex Drive

We’re either doing it, or not doing it. Talking about it, or not talking about it.  Thinking about it, or not thinking about it.  It’s a topic of discussion amongst the young and old and yet, more often than not, a lot of us struggle with actually having enough energy throughout the day to enjoy intimacy & sex with our partners or, dare I say, with ourselves.  There are many factors that need to be considered when thinking about our drive for sex, but for now let’s look at how adding superfoods into your diet can up your libido and zest for life.

Maca Root

Known as ‘Nature’s Viagra’, Maca is renowned for increasing sex drive and fertility.  Maca is a simple, natural and nutritionally rich superfood found in Peru.  Traditionally it’s used as a folk remedy to increase stamina, energy, sexual function and libido.  The benefits of Maca are endless, but some of the main ones to keep in mind are: enhancement of libido (sex drive), stimulates fertility, increases testosterone levels (keep in mind women with higher levels of testosterone often have a higher sex drive), helps fight against erectile dysfunctions and impotency, increases vaginal lubrication…let’s face it, it’s a WIN WIN with Maca.  Mix it into yoghurt, smoothies, baking, raw chocolate & salad dressings, or take Maca capsules.

Goji Berries

Goji Berries are known as a strong sexual tonic.   Goji berries increase testosterone levels, improve overall stamina, mood and wellbeing, all of which are vital for an optimum sex life.  Chuck them in salads, on your cereal, smoothies or sprinkled on yoghurt.

Bee Pollen

Bee pollen has every vitamin, mineral, amino acid, antioxidant and other trace element known to man.  In Chinese Medicine, pollen is considered an energy and nutritive tonic with cultures from all over the world using it for a number of different reasons.  Some of the main ways it can benefit you sexually are:

  • Improves endurance and vitality

  • Potent aphrodisiac,

  • Improves fertility

  • Boosts libido

  • Enhances sexual pleasure.

Sprinkle over your cereal, yoghurt, smoothies, ice-cream, or simply consume a teaspoon a day!

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds contain Zinc, which is important in testosterone production in men and helps sustain sexual desire in women.  They are also high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are the precursors of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that play a key role in sexual desire and sexual health.  Word on the street is that chucking a few pumpkin seeds into your diet will enhance potency, sex drive and fertility.
